NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC – It’s that time of year again for the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Tournament! The World Am is one of the largest golf tournaments in the world and is entering its 36th year of existence. Golfers from all over the world participate in the World Am and a plethora of prizes are given away each year.
What is the World Am?
The World Am is an amateur golf tournament played annually in Myrtle Beach, SC. This year the tournament boasts more than 3,200 players and takes place over four rounds (72 holes) at some of the best golf courses along the Grand Strand. A total of 60 courses officially participate in the World Am, including Caledonia, Barefoot Resort, Grande Dunes and others.
Who Can Play in the World Am?
Touted as the world’s most inclusive golf tournament, players of all ages and handicaps are welcome to play. The only requirement to achieve a spot in the tournament is a valid USGA handicap index or international equivalent. Flights are organized by gender, age and handicap. A tournament within a tournament, World Am also offers a division for men and senior men who prefer medal play.
What Can I Win?
With more than 60 flights, the top 5 players in each flight receive prizes. This means that there are more than 300 prizes given away! Prizes include gift cards to the PGA TOUR Superstore, daily contest prizes, $30,000 in random drawing prizes for early registration and random prize giveaways to entire flights.
World Am Practice Headquarters
Although Beachwood does not officially host any rounds for the tournament, we are a very popular place for golfers looking to tune up their game before the tournament and between rounds. We offer a full public practice facility with a large practice green, grass driving range and sand bunker. We bid all golfers good luck in the tournament!
